Pro Bono and Community Service

At R3, we believe that pro bono service and community engagement are not only about meeting our obligation to the profession, but are essential to supporting our community. For years, our attorneys and staff have dedicated countless hours to numerous organizations, including the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Chicago’s Lawyers in the Classroom program, the John Marshall Law School’s Veterans Legal Support Center & Clinic, and the Legal Aid Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago. Some of our specific pro bono matters include:

  • Representing and advocating for a child’s best interest as Guardian ad litem when parties disagree about either the initial appointment of a guardian, the discharge of a guardian, or the appointment of a successor guardian.
  • Advising low income individuals on whether they are eligible to expunge or seal their criminal records and aid them in preparing the necessary pleadings.
  • Representing a non-profit charitable organization in connection with the investigation and threatened litigation of claims of director malfeasance and misappropriation of funds.
  • Representing a battered spouse who is a legal resident in obtaining a U-VISA.
  • Advising a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation on contractual issues, intellectual property, and other aspects of non-profit law.
  • Assisting in the preparation of an asylum claim on behalf of a torture victim.
