On April 22, R3 Partner Carla Scarsella presented “You’re an ARES: Now What? An Overview of Illinois ARES Compliance Standards” at a CLE lunch hosted by the Chicago Bar Association’s Energy, Telecommunications and Water Law Committee. Her presentation focused on the law and emerging regulatory issues concerning Alternative Retail Energy Suppliers (“ARES”) in Illinois. In particular, she addressed the various compliance requirements applicable to ARES under the Illinois Public Utilities Act and Illinois Commerce Commission enforcement trends. Ms. Scarsella is an attorney in the firm’s energy and litigation practice areas and her practice focuses primarily on regulatory counseling, trials and appeals involving natural gas, electric and water industry clients.

On March 26, R3 Partners Darren Hunter and Jacquie Vidmar will present an “Overview of the Global Harmonization Standard” at a seminar hosted by the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois (“CICI”). Their presentation will focus on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (“OSHA”) recent amendments to its Hazard Communication Standard to align with the U.N.’s Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (“GHS”), and will analyze how the dramatic changes to this standard will impact industry members. The practical, half-day seminar is geared toward industry management and safety professionals and includes a separate presentation on the training portion of the rule that must be implemented by December 1, 2013.
